The Great ShakeOut 10/15/26

Dear Parent or Guardian,

On October 15, 2026, Mountain View High School will participate in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. Everyone will practice how to drop, cover and hold on, and teachers will discuss the importance of earthquake preparedness with our students. This is the chance for us all to practice what to do during earthquakes to reduce potential injuries.

At 9:16 a.m., your child will Drop, Cover and Hold On.  Drop to the ground, take Cover under a table or desk, and Hold On to it for at least 60 seconds. Afterwards, they will practice what to do after the shaking stops.

Earthquake preparedness is a responsibility of all Californians and we encourage you to also discuss earthquake readiness with your child and others at home.

Please refrain from coming to campus during during the drill.
