The School Site Council (SSC) is a committee that gives parents, students, and staff members a voice in the governing of the school.  The Council is composed of the principal, 4 classroom teachers, 1 staff member who is not a classroom teacher, 3 parents, and 3 students.  All members except the principal are elected by their peers - students elect the student representatives, parents elect the parent representatives, and so forth.

The Council is the governing body that determines how the school will use its categorical funding.  This is funding from the state and federal government that the school must use to support the success of a targeted population of students.  To guide its decision-making for categorical funding, the Council must create a Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), which describes the actions the school will take to ensure that the targeted students will be successful.
